CHAPTER 1: Lauren Behfarin

Prelude

The Who: Lauren Behfarin
The Where: Upper East Side, Manhattan

5pm - Dinner Time

My evening starts with getting all 3 kids fed (easier said than done!) I usually set the table with our Recette plates. Lately we’ve been loving Stocked by 3 Owls, an amazing NYC-based meal delivery service, because let’s be real, I can’t cook every night.

6pm - Splash Time

Now that my kids all bathe themselves, I get to just pop in and hear about their days. But they are still extremely messy so we purchased a Splash Guard for my little one, and my post-bath clean up is even easier.

7:15 pm - Skincare 

My eldest has gotten into a "skincare routine," which I resisted at first, but now she is recommending products to me so I gave in. She always has new stuff for me to try and it’s a fun way to connect at the end of the day. This is our time to chat and I love nothing more. Then she goes back to homework while I put the littles to bed.

7:30pm - It’s lights out for the younger two

Sleep is everything for our family so this is kind of a non-negotiable. I try not to make any rituals around bedtime so they don’t expect the same routine each night. Sometimes a kiss, sometimes a back tickle, sometimes a book together or alone, but it’s always quick and then lights out. 

8pm - My Time

I love a nighttime shower to warm me up before bed. These are my shower essentials, big Goop fan, as you can see. Just discovered this new face brush from one of my BFFs and can’t end my day without it!

8:30pm - Back at my desk

Lot’s of perks to having older kids, but also some things I have not quite adjusted to and one of those is the much later bedtime for my oldest. Many nights it’s after me! So this is the hour I am usually running through flash cards with her or setting her plans for the next day, often while I’m back at my desk. Working from home has a lot of benefits with a young family and it allows me to set my own hours. That often means that I am. back at my desk in the evening. It's actually one of my favorite times to be creative. And yes, you can always find a sour snack in my drawer. 

10:30pm - And that’s a wrap around here.

All kids are in bed, work is complete and I am in my favorite "fancy" pajamas as the kids call them, from the brand Lake Pajamas. Will do it all again tomorrow But that’s enough of me, more bedtime stories from other moms up next...
